Short Message Service in XTS-IP / XTSc-IP Systems

Short Message Service (SMS) is typically provided in GSM mobile networks

and is a service permitting users to share (send and receive) text messages

with other users (refer to page 42 for information on SMS in Telenium

). A

text message is comprised of an alphanumeric combination of up to 60

characters when used in XTS-IP / XTSc-IP systems. An SMS can be sent

employing the Text Message Window or as a reply to a received message

(refer to Message Icons on page 38). The Nomad SP can maintain an unlimited

number of messages when used in XTS-IP / XTSc-IP systems.

To send a text

message to other

users:

1. Select the SMS

Slider Button.

2. Click in lower

portion of SMS

window and

type message.

3. Type the desired

station number

in the area of

the window

above the

message. To send to more than one station, type a comma between

station numbers. Do not insert a space after the comma.

4. Click on "Send". The message is delivered.
